Shootathon – 12,617 Arrows & lots being raised for Sport Relief

Members of NAC smashed their target of shooting 10,000 arrows in 24 hours at Carlsberg Sports and Social Club on 23rd/24th March. The shoot started off at 10pm on the Friday and at 4.07 pm on the Saturday the magic arrow was shot, leaving another 6 hours of aiming. At the close of play at 10pm a total of 12,617 arrows had been slammed into the targets. Early indications are that sponsorship money raised could be in excess of £1,500 to £2,000 for Sport Relief. A great effort and lots of hard work and organising by many members of the Club. Our thanks also to the many kind-hearted folk and groups who have donated to or sponsored the event.

Deaglan enters club records and 4 other records set

Deaglan, our young junior, is a new name added to our record holders at NAC. Deaglan scored 171 shooting flatbow last Saturday at JASH in the last of our Portsmouth Series. Jacob also shot a new junior record for the recurve with a score of 484. Leigh Masters beat his previous senior record shooting flatbow with a score of 361 and Sarah Fowler-Jardine shooting compound beat her previous record with a new high of 541. Susan Corless beat her old record scoring 525, but this lasted just 24 hours -she scored 531 the following day. Great news and well done. The final positions for the whole series will be published in due course.

NAC First Portsmouth Series, 2011/2012, Final Shoot.

A wise man said that this was David Taylor waving a magic wand and hoping for a good result in the final shoot of the NAC Portsmouth Series which has been ongoing over the winter indoor season. It is actually our very own chairman David Taylor who was addressing the NAC archers prior to the last event of three taking place on Saturday 10th March 2012. As the club continues to grow at a healthy rate David was explaining in detail as to how the event will run to our many newcomer who were in attendance for their very first competition. The results have been displayed on the appropriate pages (I think the wand worked fairly well) subject to final scrutiny and many new club records had been achieved during these three events.

Please find a pictorial of the event within our gallery section of this website.

Medals for NAC in County Indoor Portsmouth Championships

NAC performed very well in the County Indoor Championships on Sunday 11th March at Rothwell. David Quemby received a silver in the Gents Compound with a score of 575, just two points behind Martin Ross who took gold. David went on to get a gold however in the double round with a score of 1136. Susan Corless won a gold for the ladies double recurve with a score of 1052, and Paul Hyde took a bronze in the gents recurve with a score of 1120. Mick Lovell also shot but despite scoring well, missed out on the metal. New club records were set and these will be included in the next records update later this month. Well done and thanks for representing NAC so well.
