NAC Archer Kerys wins Gold at Invictus Games 2017

Absolutely fantastic – NAC Archer Kerys Knight – representing the UK at the Invictus Games this year – won a Gold  in the women’s compound finals at Toronto on Friday 29th September.  Kerys beat US archer Kyle Burnett (silver) and Canada’s Bettina Fuchs (bronze). Later the same day she joined up with Olaf Jones and Chris McFadyen in the Team compound and took a bronze, the UK being pipped by the USA (silver) and Romania (gold). Kerys also won a bronze in the women’s lightweight powerlifting held on Monday 25th, being beaten by Australia (silver) and USA (gold).  Kerys has served her country well and done the UK, Northamptonshire and NAC proud. What a brilliant achievement.Well done Kerys.

Records Set at End of Season Shoot

A total of seven club records were set/broken at the end of indoor season Worcester shoot on 27th April 2012 at John Ashby Sports Hall. Pam Joseph set a new Ladies Compound Record of 269, Robyn Stevens a Ladies Flatbow at 92, Susan Corless a Ladies Recurve of 277, Beryl Tabberner, a Ladies of Barebow 75, Oliver De Sousa a Junior Gents under 14 Flatbow of 73, Jacob Lovell a Junior Gents under 16 Recurve of 195 and Lizzie Lovell a Junior Ladies under 14 Recurve of 148. Paul Bond narrowly missed a Gents Recurve Record. He scored a great 291, the current record is a phenomenal 293 held by Ian Webb from 1984, the county record being 294 held by Dean Edwards. Well done – great shooting by NAC.

County Records shot at Portsmouth Series Round 4

On checking the NCAS web-site, it looks like Oliver de Sousa has set a new County record for the Junior Gents Barebow in the Portsmouth Round on Saturday 9th March. The existing record of 240 was set last year, but Oliver has smashed this with a score of 301 – fantastic. Get your claim in. Susan Corless also equalled the present Ladies Recurve County Record with a score of 572 – well done. Claims for County Records should be directed direct to NCAS. They can be done online here.

Club Records at Portsmouth Series 4th Round

Another successful event was held at Moulton College yesterday for the fourth round of the 2012-13 Portsmouth Round Series event. New Records were set and several members have improved on their Portsmouth Badge Awards, not least of all Paul Bond who set a new Club record of 579 in the Gents Recurve, beating his old record of 573. He is the first member to achieve a 575 Portsmouth Badge. Other records were set by Robyn Stevens in the Ladies Flatbow, scoring 287, beating her old record of 251.Susan Corless set a new record in the Ladies Recurve with 572, beating the old record of 558. Deaglan Rooney set a new Junior under 14 Flatbow record of 211, beating his old one of 209; whilst Oliver De Sousa set a new gents under 14s Barebow record of 301. A great day was had and congratulations to all those who set new records, set new personal bests and improved on their badge awards.

Club Records Update and Presentations.

Our club records have been updated today, with David Quemby and Susan Corless continuing to be our record setters in tournaments across the county. David has beaten his old York record by scoring 1106 at Wicken, whilst Susan has set new records for National, Short Metric and Windsor rounds, with scores of 364, 483 and 752 respectively.

Susan also has had the honour of being presented with our outgoing Chairman’s Trophy for her achievements last year. At the same presentation  Susan was also awarded her 2nd Class GNAS Classification Badge.
