The NAC Nominate Lizzie Cantopher for the Sports Women of the Year Award.

The NAC recently nominated Lizzie for the Northampton Leisure Trust Sports Award. Lizzie was accepted and was successfully put into the final round which she (and others) attended at the Northampton Guildhall in which she achieved a very respectful second place losing out by one point to a local triathlon athlete. The NAC committee chose Lizzie for the award because of her dedication to archery and her achievement since taking up archery. This website already has previous posts regarding her successes this year. In December of 2013 she represented England. Reached the final eight of the National Series Final Outdoor season where she won the bronze medal in the final shoot-off. Also she is ranked 18th in the 2013 Outdoor Season and presently we are awaiting her Ranking for the 2014 season which at the time of writing has not been published. We at NAC are proud of her achievements and we feel it is only time before she goes on to even greater things. .

End of Season shoot and move to Moulton

It seems almost impossible that it is this time of year when we move indoors for our shooting. We have however, had a good summer season with favourable weather. Our last session at Sywell on Saturday 4th October was a fun shoot of Archery Crazy Golf led by Mick Lovell who did an excellent job of organizing the affair. The results are here. Wet morning weather gave way to drier weather just especially for the start of the shoot. The enjoyable game was followed by hot dogs and medal presentations for the season’s Target Days – overseen by David Stephens our Deputy-Chair. (results found here). For the first year we have also presented Novice Awards for our  promising and inspiring new archers. These went to Bailey Bridgewater, Hazel Dalley, Triv. McCarlie and Kelly Pearce. Bailey has shot well through the year and has represented NAC at some County Shoots, whilst the enthusiastic  Hazel shot in all four of our target days. Her smiles are a lesson to the older archers who get a bit frustrated when things go wrong. Triv. and Kelly have both progressed really well with their shooting and we wish them well for the up and coming indoor season. Classification badges were awarded to Ryan Boot (2nd Class), Mark Dalley (3rd Class) Pam Joseph (1st Class), Heather Major (1st Class), Triv McCarlie (3rd Class (not present)) and Beryl Tabberner (3rd Class).

NAC Archers bring back medals and trophy from the County Championships

NAC archers performed well at the County and Open Outdoor Championships held at Wellingborough on Sunday 14th September. Ian Hyde came third overall (second in county) in the long distance York Round with his longbow, whilst in the Hereford Round, Susan Corless took gold and a trophy in the ladies’ compound. In the National rounds, Dave Quemby took gold followed in second place by Ryan Boot; whilst in the ladies’ Pam Joseph took gold – all three shooting compound. In the Short Junior National, novice shooter, Bailey Bridgewater took gold with barebow. Great results for NAC. The full results can be found here.

NAC Juniors Presentation at Sywell Shooting Range

Three of our junior archers left the Sywell shooting range last Saturday with very big smiles on their faces. Namely Grace Windram, Ewan Fowler-Jardine and Lizzie Lovell were extremely happy after receiving well earned Archery Awards.

Both Grace and Ewan had completed and passed their Archery Beginners Course and to top that Lizzie had completed and passed her FITA Black Arrow Award.

The presentations were made during the normal Saturday shooting session at Sywell. I’m sure you will all join me in congratulating all three of our juniors who had worked hard to complete their courses. Pictures of the three are shown here,
