Outdoor Season Events for the N.A.C.

To all members,

Recently you should have received an e-mail explaining that Dave Quemby has passed the baton to David Major, Paul Hyde and Neville de Sousa.

These three members volunteered to look after our shooting events with the full  blessing of the present committee.

They report to the committee as and when there is a need, but they are trusted to take the pressure away from committee members and to work along with the Sywell committee directly when organizing outdoor events at our Sywell venue.

They have already informed the membership of the date for the Pope Young competition and for those who wish to shoot there normal distances they are perfectly entitled to do so.

Anyone wishing to take part in the Pope Young Competition just has to let it be known on the day to the organizers. Believe me this is an even that is fun and anyone can take part. The Pope Young will be placed on our calender page along with other events as and when they are confirmed. So please check regularly for any additions, (you will be notified by e-mail as well)

Please give your support to our three volunteers who will do everything they can to give us an eventful outdoor season. These three require our support and not criticism, just like any responsible position they too have to go through a learning curve plus they may wish to put a “twist” to some of our events.

We as a committee take this opportunity to thank Dave Quemby for all the time and effort he has put into making our events so enjoyable. Dave (as some may not know) holds many titles within the club competitions, just look at the website to see just how good he is. He is passing over the responsibility of arranging our events so that he can once again give full concentration to his shooting as I’m sure he will continue to proudly represent the NAC at future competitions around the county.  I’m sure I can speak for all of our members, thank you Dave for what you have done, and what you may achieve in the future for yourself and the NAC.

Many thanks

IanP for NAC Committee.

End of the Indoor Season for the NAC.

The last few weeks has been pretty hectic for the NAC archers. The final competition of the Portsmouth series took place mid March and the end of season Worcester shoot took place on the 29th March. Afterwards all retired to the JAshby canteen where the trophy’s and medals were handed out to those who had won them over the course of the indoor season. The attached picture shows some of the recipients and just look at the smile on there faces.

The picture, along with others shown within the photo gallery were very kindly taken by Neville De Sausa in my absence.Thank you Nev and I hope the new wide angle lens performed well on the day.  IanP.DSC_1350

It’s Good News About BBOB Shooting Venue.

The NAC Membership met last night to consider options of the newly acquired BBOB shooting venue. With a high membership turn out at the EGM the membership was asked whether they wanted this venue as a permanent venue. With a Unanimous vote the members gave us their answer……….Yes.

This is another momentous milestone in the history of the Northampton Archery Club as it goes from strength to strength.

The NAC can now offer even more shooting “opportunities”.that everyone can afford. The committee would like to thank the membership for their continued support and we members should thank Pam (our chair) for her enthusiasm in the acquisition of this site which if it wasn’t for her we would never have had. Well done Pam.

Thanks to all.

Safety Awareness Bulletin, The Use Of Full Carbon Arrows At the N.A.C.

To All NAC members and other club users of NAC facilities. Please read the latest information below regarding the use of full carbon arrows. We have left the original text for comparison in coloured font.

As stated below within the original posting there was a restriction on the use of full carbon arrows at the NAC. This restriction was put in place over a safety concern and at the time the committee felt they acted with the knowledge and in the best interest of the membership. However as this was brought to our attention we underwent a review of this ruling.    The committee have since taken advice from Archery GB and other sources and we have been assured that because of the latest manufacturing processes of carbon arrows the risk has been reduced considerably and as such we can authorize the use of a full carbon arrow at our facilities with immediate effect.

Dated  23rd Feb 2014,    regards IanP

[URGENT Safety Awareness message; To all members of the NAC and members of other clubs using the NAC facilities;

At a committee meeting dated the 14th November 2012 there was a debate regarding the use of full carbon arrows and possible injuries. As a result the committee elected to ban their use at ALL NAC venues.

Although these minutes are published on our Members page it has come to our attention that FULL Carbon Arrows are being used at our venues and we have therefore decided to put out this memo and to ask any archer using this type of arrow to cease forthwith.

Recently we had put together a set of Shooting rules covering our venues  and we are embarrassed to say that we failed to highlight this issue at the time of publication. We shall therefore “Update” our “Rules” as soon as we are able.

We apologies for any inconvenience and hope that all members understand that safety is paramount].

Regards, IanP
