There’s a Robin Hood Panto

Oh no there’s not – oh yes there is

Well there is. Group Eight Theatre Company at Hackleton are holding their annual Panto at the Dudley Winterbottom Memorial Hall this year on Thursday 6th, 7th and 8th December (curtain up at 7.45pm). And it’s Robin Hood. Tickets are £6 for adults and £4 for concessions. If we go as a reasonable sized group we may  be able to negotiate a reduced price and Mick from the Group suggests we go dressed up in Robin Hood garb. David and Heather have watched the group’s performances before and have to say they are good and funny. Just the job for silly archers.

If you wish to go could you let David and Heather know as soon as possible so they can reserve tickets. We will need the money closer the time, but at least a week before the performance. We intend to go for the Friday performance.

Portsmouth Badges are back

During the Outdoor Season we have 252 badges, but indoors we have Portsmouth Badge awards. These are personal achievement badges. As archers achieve higher scores at this round, they can claim a badge for each step they take. These start at a score of 300 and increase in increments of 25 to the maximum score of 600. They cost £2 each and can be traded in if this is wished at no extra cost. In respect of the Portsmouth Badges ONLY ONE score need be submitted per badge application. Usual shooting rules apply – first shoot of the day, two lots of 3 sighter arrows, scoresheets properly recorded and witnessed etc. They can be claimed from tournaments, club target days at NAC or other clubs, or at normal shooting session at Moulton.

 

A Round-up of Summer

The outdoor season is over, and we have now moved indoors for winter. What started off as a wet and miserable summer in 2012, ended with considerable achievements for NAC. We won’t mention names, because so many have done so much for the club. There has been a steady improvement in archery standards and we have seen an increasing number of active members. Numerous new records have been set and 18 classification awards presented, including several to our Junior Section. Two NAC members have shot for the County, whilst those at the helm and others have sacrificed considerable shooting time to take NAC forwards and improve facilities and equipment. Despite abandoned have-a-go sessions early on in the season, things went well in the end and we have introduced many to the sport, with a large beginners course being held last month. Our social side flourishes and we can safely say NAC is looking very healthy. Thanks to all our supporters.

NAC Last Outdoor Shoot of 2012.

On Satuirday the 6th October the NAC held their last outdoor shoot of the season. On the day Mick Lovell took overal comand and had set the range for an Archery Golf Tournament. This was new to all of us and after the rules were explaned by Mick of we all went. The tournament took around 11/2 hrs to complete after which members held an outdoor BBQ and to finish the day our “chairlady” Pam awarded members their “Classification Badges” which finished of the day very nicely. Many thanks to Mick and the helpers for introducing us to a very nice fun afternoons shooting in perfect weather conditions.
